Der Blaustreifen-Zackenbarsch ist im westlichen Pazifik und im Indischen Ozean weit verbreitet, aber stets an Korallenriffe gebunden. Er ist als Aquariumfisch beliebt, jedoch benötigt er, da sehr aggresiv, viel Platz - sonst frisst er alle Mitbewohner die er Schlucken kann.

The blue line grouper occurs in the indo-west-pacific in most coral reefs close to the mainland (not at remote islands). It is popular as an aquarium species thou a lot of space is required: due to its aggressive behavior it can only coexist with some selected species.

Der Eidechsenfisch kommt sowohl im Indopazifik als auch im Roten Meer vor, ist aber im Atlantik und Mittelmeer abwesend. Der kleine Raubfish lebt in Lagunen und Korallenriffen wo er unbewegt auf dem Boden wartet und blitzschnell vorbeischwimmende Beute attackiert.

The Reef-lizardfish appears widespread in the indopacific and red sea but is completely absent in the atlantic and mediterranean sea. As a small lurking predator it is waiting motionlessly for prey - on the bottom of lagoons and coral reefs.

Der ikonische Bumerang-Wabenbarsch ist sesshaft und ernährt sich von Würmern, Krebstieren und kleinen Fischen. Mit seinem Muster ist er in der Nähe von Steinkorallen bestens getarnt.
Einst war er einer der häufigsten Zackenbarsche in den Gewässern von Hong Kong und er spielt auch heute noch eine wichtige Rolle auf dem Markt. Die meisten Exemplare werden im Sommer als Jungtiere gefangen und wachsen bis zum Verkauf in Aquakulturen.
Obwohl populationen schrumpfen stuft das IUCN den Wabenbarsch als `kaum gefährded` ein.

The iconic longfin grouper is sedentary and feeds on worms, crustaceans and small fishes. Its camouflage mimics the patter of platygyra corals.
This grouper used to be one of the most common groupers in Hong Kong waters and still plays a role in local fisheries. Most longfin groupers which are sold alive in Hong Kong markets have been caught as juveniles during summer and grown-out in aquaculture.
According to the IUCN populations are decreasing, its the vulnerability status however is still `least concerned`.

Ähnlich dem Weissschwanz-Preussenfisch hat auch der Gestreife Sergent sein Gelege auf Korallen. Nachdem die Larven geschlüpft sind leben sie pelagisch und lassen sich von der Strömung treiben. Sobald sie zu einer bestimmten Größe herangewachsen sind suchen sie ein Korallenriff um einen neuen Schwarm zu bilden.

Like the cloudy dascyllus the indo-pacific sergeant also lays its eggs in nests on top of corals. As soon as the larvae hatch, waves will carry them away to their pelagic lifestyle in the current. After reaching a certain size they return to a coral reef and form new swarms.

Schneeflocken-Zackenbarsch in Thailand, Koh Doc Mai - Steilwand

Wie üblich für Zackenbarsche lebt auch dieser in Höhlen oder in Überhängen eines Riffes. Der Schneeflocken-Zackenbarsch kann bis zu 40cm lang werden.

The white-streaked grouper, like most fishes of its family, lives in caves or overhangs of reefs. It can grow up to 40cm in length.
