Red-lined flabellina (Flabellina rubrolineata), in Sabang, Philippines

Fabellina (Aeloid-Nacktkiemer) in Sabang, Philippines

This nudibranches body is covered with extensions called cerata which can differ in length but are always diamond-shaped. Using its mouth tentacles it feeds on cnidarians. It has the special ability of storing the nematocysts (stinging apparatus) of their eaten prey and utilize them for their own protection. After digestion the nematocysts are stored in the tip of the cerata in a compartment called cnidosacs.
